FINDING GOD IN THE LAND OF NARNIA

ASLAN’s song---àGod spoke or rather sang, our world into existence

…In the darkness something was happening at last. A voice had begun to sing.

(The magician’s nephew. Chapter 8 “the fight at the lamp-post”

Then God said “let the waters under the heavens be gathered into one dry

place and let the dry land appear “and it was so.

(Genesis 1:9)

Genesis 1:11-12)

Genesis! 20-24

Genesis1:27

Romans 11:36

Evil has entered---à we live in enemy-occupied territory.

“Son of Adam, said the Lion .There is an evil witch abroad in my new land of Narnia

The person of the White Witch represents Lucifer the highest created being of the

heavenly realm .He was God’s most gifted and trusted servant ,described by the prophet

Ezekiel as “ the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect beauty” (Ezekiel 28 : 12)

The insanity of pride entered him (Ezekiel28:15, 17)

Isaiah 14:13-14)

“Evil will come of that evil, but it is still a long way off, and I will see to it that the worst

falls upon myself”   The words of our God through the mouth of Aslan

The wardrobe---à the kingdom of God is nearer than you think

Surprise encounter with the unseen world are lurking just around every corner. At any

moment we, too may slip through an undetected crack and find ourselves standing in the

middle of a strange and marvellous land ,a place beyond the walls of the known universe.,

other dimension where God and the hosts of Heaven dwell in power and bliss .For  all its

invisibility, it is dangerously real and alarming present .

The kingdom of God is at hand   (Mark 1:15)

If only we, like the prophet   Elisha’s servant (2 Kings 6:17), might be granted eyes to see.

Turkish delight---à Sin’s sweetness lasts but a season

Edmund was already feeling uncomfortable from having eaten too many sweets…..But he still

wanted to taste that Turkish delight again more than he wanted anything else. – For in tasting

of her treats, Edmund has unwittingly placed himself under the Queen’s control.

He had in fact sold his soul .That when his sickness became sickness unto death. He has

reached a place where there is no other choice; a place of bondage which is not easily broken

(Hebrews11: 25) “The passing pleasures of sin “

Those pleasures do not simply pass away; instead they pass into something entirely unexpected:

sorrow and sickness, oppression and involuntary servitude

Not safe but Good---àWe have nothing to fear but the God of grace and love.

God is an alluring but terrifying Question mark

(Exodus 20:18 -19)

(Mark 4:41)

Peter ‘s first encounter with Aslan reminds us that there is a divine secret even deeper  and

more wonderful : God is not merely a terrible  and fascinating Question Mark ,Instead ,He

is a loving companion, a mentor, a protector and a friend

Matthew (11: 28-29)

Not safe but good. That’s the kind of lion Peter met on the Hill of the stone of Table. And

that’s the sort of God we encounter at the hill of Calvary.

Father Christmas---à God is the God of new beginnings

“Always winter and never Christmas; think of that” that’s what Mr Tumnus has said about

the Witch’s enchantment. Depressing thought. But now Aslan is on the move

“In the days of Herod the king, then Jesus was born”.

They were dark days , bleak days ,devoid of hope for justice loving ,God-fearing, Jews,

Herod king of envy and paranoia ,was in control when God entered history as a tender

helpless babe It’s Him the witch’s magic is weakening. The ice is melting and the winter

of your discontent is drawing to an end.

Deep and Deeper Magic---àThe universe is founded on God’s redeeming love

Deep magic at work at this land of Narnia, an unshakable natural law, any act of treason

leads inevitably to death. Anyone who overthrows or subverts absolute allegiance to the

Emperor forfeits his life, Moreover, every traitor‘s blood belongs to the Witch

Ezekiel18:4    The soul that sins shall die

Romans 6: 23---The wages of sin is death

Deeper Magic that the Witch knew nothing about.>the Magic of the blameless victim

who willingly lays down his life for another”

“When a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor’s stead,

the table of stone would crack and death itself would start working backwards”

The Witch’s victory is overturned the Deep Magic is trumpeted by an even deeper power

Christ like Aslan has died and risen again on our behalf. By His sacrifice, He has broken

the spell of sin and death.God‘s intention was always to lay down His life for His friends

(Revelation 13:80-à the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world

 (Peter 1:20)

Sons of Adam and Daughters of Eve are destined to rule---à

Our Humanness is a great and terrible responsibility

(Psalm 8:3-4)

Only humans, of all creatures formed of clay, have been stamped with the image of

their creator) (Genesis 1:27) Only they partake of His Breath (Genesis 2:7 and bear

the imprint of His character. thus they alone possess the rights and responsibilities

of heirs

(Psalm 8:5-6)

(Matthew 19:28
